When you're decorating a recreational room, it all depends upon what purpose the room it will serve.  A pool (billiard) room, TV room, kid's play room,  or even a bar.

I have a bar with several bar stools and a large flat screen TV.  It's like a family room but can be used for entertaining guests.  If you have guests over and you need a place for the children to be, this room could be used.  I have it set up to entertain children as well as adults, so it could be multi-purpose.  One section has an area for video games for the children, and of course some adults indulge in it, too.  Another section so they can watch TV, for sports fanatics.
